lyrics
Three ravens sat upon a tree Hey doun hey doun Three ravens sat upon a tree They were black as black could be
And they sing lay doun lay doun a day
And they sing lay doun lay doun a day
And they sing lay doun lay doun
The middlemaist ane said to his mate
Where will our dinner get
Doun in to yon grass green field There lays a squire baith killed and dead
And his horse was standing by his side And thought that he should get on and ride
And his hounds were standing by his feet
They licked his sairs they were so deep
And they sing lay doun lay doun a day
And they sing lay doun lay doun a day
And they sing lay doun lay doun
And there came a lady full of woe She was big wi' child as she could go And she's stretched hersel' doon by his side And for the love of him she's died
And he was buried in Saint Mary’s kirk
Ans she was buried in Saint Mary’s quire
And oot his grave there grew a fir
And oot’ o her’s a lily fair
And they grew til’ they grew to the kirk top
And there they kissed in true love’s knot
So dinnae think but their love was true
When out their grave sick floors did grow
And they sing lay doun lay doun a day
And they sing lay doun lay doun a day
And they sing lay doun lay doun

Three Ravens (Trad. English, arr. Tannara)
Waited until I got to the CD and getting it through the letterbox before posting a comment. A really great album. From first to last, not a bad piece. And well thought through before selecting the place of each piece on the album. The singing and the songs are beautiful. Don't know how I missed it when it first came out.
Must be getting old. Terry McCarron
